As a Software Engineer and Junior Data Scientist at the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP) in Costa Mesa, CA, I have been responsible for both data science/analytics and software engineering tasks. On the data science side, I have conducted the statistical analysis and machine learning modeling using SQL, R, and Python (including Flask and Pandas) to identify patterns and trends in large datasets. I have utilized tools like Pyspark and Pandas for data analysis and preprocessing, while also employing statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to predict water quality parameters. Additionally, I have developed data visualizations and dashboards using Power BI, Seaborn, Matplotlib, and Tableau to effectively communicate findings. On the software engineering front, I have performed QA/testing, developed full-stack Flutter applications, created websites using Python Flask, managed databases using AWS and SQL, and utilized Git for version control. Overall, my role at SCCWRP involved conducting data analysis, modeling, and visualization as a Junior Data Scientist, as well as developing software applications, QA testing and managing databases as a Software Engineer.
